The 12th Zurich Film Festival of 2016 was full of glamour, interesting events and Hollywood stars. The festival had around 90,500 attendees, showed 172 films and was sponsored by major companies such as Credit Suisse, BMW, Etihad Airways and IWC. All of this in addition to the numerous international guests, new venues and great weather made this year’s festival an exciting success!
Many great actors attended the festival, where festival goers had the chance to hear about their films directly during interviews and green carpet greetings. The actors also shared their personal background and acting experience with the audience during the ZFF Masters. In addition to walking the green carpet, the stars of honor also made appearances at various sponsor events. Some of this year’s famed stars included Woody Harrelson (“LBJ”), Sergej Polunin (“Dancer”), Hugh Grant (“Florence Foster Jenkins”), Ewan McGregor (“American Pastoral”), Daniel Radcliffe (“Imperium”, “Swiss Army Man”), Joseph Leonard Gordon-Levitt (“Snowden”), and Alexander Skarsgard (“War On Everyone).
Hollywood actress Uma Thurman presented the IWC Filmaker Awards 2016.
In addition to the multitude of films screenings and hollywood attendees, the festival hosted the Tommy Hilfiger Party at Razzia restaurant. The party included Hilfiger himself amongst prominent Swiss guests such as Olivia Palermo and Johannes Huebl.
The festival culminated with a beautifully emotional and inspiring award night moderated by German TV host Steven Gätjen. Many talented filmmakers received their well-deserved Golden Eyes and shared their happiness and passion for cinema on stage. The festival’s “A Tribute to…” award was given to the French screenwriter and film director Olivier Assayas for his films. All in all, the festival was a fantastic platform to celebrate the art of cinematography.
Special thanks to IWC Schaffhausen for the invitation! I was wearing IWC Portofino watch and a beautiful dress from the Swiss label Little Black Dress.
