Last week the delights of organic countryside farming were brought to the city at the City Alp event held at the Renaissance Tower Hotel in Zurich. Farmer and entrepreneur Renzo Blumenthal, common to many as Mister Switzerland 2005, presented his organic line of farmers’ products. Everything is made by Renzo and his family at their Swiss farm in the canton Graubünden. His collection of products offers wonderful cheese varieties, including those for fondue and raclette, various sausages, schnapps, beer and marmalade. All products are Swiss organic certified (Bio Suisse label), delicious and reasonably priced. One can purchase them either on his website, or at the “Delicatessa” food corner of the department store “Globus” located in Zurich.
Guests of the event could sample all the products for sale, enjoy some traditional Swiss food, listen to the alphorn players and yodeling, and see lots of Swiss national costumes. Watch my two short videos below to feel the atmosphere of the event. I really enjoyed the lovely combination of Swiss farmers’ traditions and big city life showcased through the modern design of the Renaissance Hotel, not to mention, I really enjoyed the food!
