Phantom of the Opera 2024 Basel

After three decades, the legendary musical Phantom of the Opera is returning to Switzerland, gracing the stage of the Musical Theater Basel from November 6 to December 22, 2024. This celebrated Broadway classic, with over 160 million viewers, tours in a freshly acclaimed production that promises to captivate audiences anew. Known for its record-breaking 35-year run on Broadway and ongoing 38-year performance in London’s West End, Phantom of the Opera holds an iconic place in entertainment history with over 70 prestigious awards, including seven Tony Awards and four Olivier Awards.

Originally based on Gaston Leroux’s novel Le Fantôme de L’Opéra, the story unfolds in the opulent 1930s Paris Opera House. It weaves a dramatic tale of the enigmatic “Phantom,” a musical genius hidden within the opera’s depths, who becomes infatuated with Christine, a young and talented soprano. This obsession leads to a gripping narrative of passion, jealousy, and madness, intertwined with rousing opera music and visually arresting theatrical effects.

The European premiere of Phantom of the Opera at the Musical Theater Basel boasts a stellar cast, including Nadim Naaman as the Phantom and Georgia Wilkinson and Bridget Costello sharing the role of Christine. The ensemble features accomplished performers with extensive experience on global stages such as London’s West End.

The production, comprising over 100 performers, crew members, and orchestra artists, breathes life into the epic story through grand sets and intricate special effects.
