The annual Moon and Stars music festival in Locarno set a new record this year, attracting over 100,000 visitors. This year’s festival had a few novelties: a new, smaller stage “Piazza Piccolla” was built where over 50 live bands had the chance to play during the festival. Food stands and trucks offered food stands and trucks offered delicious treats just a few steps away from the stages and a cashless payment method was implemented.
Visitors of Moon and Stars had the pleasure to meet US hip hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Italian superstar Zucchero, LP, German pop star Andreas Bourani, Jamiroquai, Amy Macdonald, Sting, Tom Odell, Imagine Dragons and Swiss bands such as Lo & Leduc, Krokus, Gotthard and Züri West.
I enjoyed the performance or the Brits Tom Odell and Sting. Tom Odell, singer-songwriter and musician and a winner of the Brits Critics’ Choice Award thrilled the audience with his piano skills, amazing voice and indie rock tunes. Tom Odell and his band Max Clilverd, Max Goff and Andy Burrows rocked the stage and warmed up the audience. Sting in his turn showed himself as a true rock star. Wearing a simple t-shirt and jeans, the 16 times Grammy winner delivered great performance, mixing his old and new hits. People were singing, dancing and having fun under the blue skies of Locarno in the gorgeous setting of the old Swiss-Italian town.
