The Grand Resort Bad Ragaz impresses with its enormity; the resort complex includes two hotels, seven restaurants, indoor and outdoor pools, a casino, two golf clubs, a clinic for rehabilitation and a 12,800 square meter spa, one of the largest in Europe. The resort is located in the picturesque mountain region of Heidiland, a reference to Johanna Spyri’s novel, “Heidi,” and is an hour’s drive from Zurich and only 15 minutes from the Principality of Lichtenstein.
I stayed in the modern Spa Suites of Grand Hotel Quellenhof & Spa Suites, where pure thermal water flows from the taps in the rooms and breathtaking views of the Alps and vineyards surround. The spacious bathroom stood out the most with its whirlpool tub and sauna. The large window added to the bright and spacious feel of the space. Contemporary design elements extended throughout the rest of the suite as well, with walnut parquet flooring, floor-to-ceiling windows and a spacious balcony.
During my stay, I enjoyed spending time in the separate lobby lounge of Spa Suites, drinking tea and sampling water from the water bar, which offers over 30 varieties. I enjoyed Mediterranean cuisine in the Olives d’Or restaurant and tried some light dishes from their concept called “Cuisine Équilibrée” developed by the in-house nutritionists.
The 36.5° Wellbeing & Thermal Spa of the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz sources healing spring water from the nearby Tamina gorge, discovered in 1242. The water’s temperature is 36.5°, that of body temperature. The variety of pools and spa offerings is amazing: a Finnish and salt sauna, a steam bath, an herbal bath with Swarovski crystals, an ice fountain, a private spa, pools and various wellness treatments and fitness classes. I could immediately feel the magic of the thermal water and its soothing effects on my skin and hair.
I also saw many works of art on the territory of the resort and was happy to learn that there are multiple cultural events, festivals and exhibitions that take place at the resort throughout the year.
Grand Resort Bad Ragaz truly offers five-star resort experiences that include relaxation, recreation, health improvement and unique food and spa offerings. There is so much to discover and enjoy in this one beautiful Swiss alpine area!
