On The Move – Ballet Zurich

Christian Spuck will take over as director of the Staatsballett Berlin at the beginning of the 2023/24 season. This marks the end of an era for Ballett Zürich. Since 2012, Christian Spuck has shaped Ballett Zürich as one of Europe’s leading ballet companies with many successful productions. After eleven years together, he will bid farewell to Zurich and his company with a final choreography. The musical centrepiece is «Lontano», a famous piece by the Hungarian composer György Ligeti (1923-2006). The great themes of detachment, distance and farewell, which Ligeti’s composition addresses, gain particular relevance in this new choreography in the context of Spuck’s farewell to Zurich and his entry into a new chapter of his life.
