Since January, Beyer Watches & Jewellery — the oldest watch retailer in the world — located on the main street of Zurich Bahnhofstrasse has a new CEO: Hanspeter Pieth is a veteran of the watch industry and an urbane philanthropist.
In 2022, René Beyer, owner and managing director of Beyer, decided to step back from the daily operations of the company, instead concentrating more on strategic tasks. Beyer and Pieth have known each other for a long time and exchanged ideas regularly, and one thing led to another: Pieth started as the new managing director of Beyer back in January 2023.
Drawing on his vast experience in the industry, he aims to contribute to the further development of the company and, as he says, “to pave the way for René Beyer, so that he can take care of those tasks that give him the most pleasure.”
His aims? The vintage watch and jewelry business will be further expanded, the jewelry studio will receive more visibility, Beyer Jewelry will grow into a clearly defined brand, and the advantages of a multi-brand retailer will be sharpened. And all this in a sophisticated and luxurious ambience that sets new standards on Bahnhofstrasse! “But the main thing remains,” says Pieth, “that we carry the unique history of this house and the globally outstanding competence associated with it into the future with as much joy as we are humbled.”
In the summer of 2023, Beyer, together with the Swiss watch brand Tudor, hosted an after-work cocktail with the clients and friends of the brand that the new CEO moderated himself, inviting the guests to discover the new arrivals of the brand in a laid back atmosphere.
