Discovering the mountain region of the canton of Bern, Bernese Highlands, we visited and admired the following places:
- Beatenberg. It is quiet and easy to discover by car. The Dorint Hotel, which is in the shape of a pyramid and can been seen from quite far away is situated right in the centre of the village.
- Niederhorn. It is easily reachable by cable car from Beatenberg. Situated 19,630 meters above sea level, Niederhorn offers a unique view over lake Thun, river Aare and the entire Bernese Alps. It was fun to have a light hike there, watching the paragliders taking off, looking down into the deep canyon, drinking coffee on the restaurant terrace and even trying out a swing that had the best view ever.
- Adelboden. Despite being quite tiny, this sweet village has a lot to offer including all kinds of winter sporting activities (cable cars are right in the city centre), hotels with outdoor pools and a great spa experience, traditional restaurants, cheese markets and cafes.
- Thun was our last stop. It is quite a big town on the lake, surrounded by the majestic Swiss Alps. We spent the evening walking in the park on the lakeside, very close to the beautiful Schadau castle.
The road trip was fun and comfortable thanks to the new Infiniti QX70 3.7. V6 with 320-horse power.
