In Zurich’s vibrant Seefeld district – next to the world-famous Opera House, Zurich, and overlooking the idyllic shores of Lake Zurich – lies the Ambassador Hotel. It reopened its doors in February 2023 after complete renovations. Within it, a unique symbiosis of history and contemporary lifestyle has been created.
The Ambassador is a 4-star boutique hotel that’s part of the Meili Selection Hotel Group. This traditional hotel combines the modern amenities of today with the elegant charm of the turn of the century – particularly highlighting the history of the textile trade relations between Switzerland and foreign countries in days gone by.
The Ambassador boasts 44 rooms and suites spread out over five floors. Each floor evokes Switzerland’s textile trade history with a specific country or region in its individually-crafted interiors.
Attributes of Spain, France, England, India, and Asia can be discovered in fabrics, inlays, and decorative elements created by renowned interior designer Ina Rinderknecht. The hotel furnishings are a blend of avant-garde design and classical elements.
Valuable materials such as marble and bronze are combined with custom-made furniture and individual lighting to create an ambience of understated elegance, sophistication and timelessness. Curtains, wallpaper, and upholstery fabrics complement the traditional oak parquet flooring, giving the rooms an irrefutable elegance.
The furniture, individually designed for the hotel, is aesthetically pleasing and gives a charming character. Mosaic tiles in the bathrooms are inspired by the original mosaic floors found during construction. Textile trade influences run throughout the interior design, combining local world events with regional culture.
At the Restaurant Lounge & Bar, SILK, “all-day breakfast” is offered daily from 7 am to 4 pm, with tempting à la carte dishes, as well as a modernly-arranged étagère. From 11:30 am, guests can also order from the lounge menu, featuring around twenty dishes in appetizer sizes.
The COCOON Executive Lounge & Boardroom – large enough to accommodate up to 12 people – is ideally suited for private meetings.
By day and by night, guests can also enjoy the unique scenery high above the rooftops of Zurich on The Ambassadors’ Rooftop Terrace, VIEW.
