Here are some highlights from my short trip to Berlin, the city that met me with showers and quite chilly temperatures, which did not make the exciting trip less enjoyable though
- Kaiser Wilhelm Church
- The Brandenburg Gate
- The Reichstag building
- Visit of Berlin’s oldest spirits manufactory in Berlin Mampe, where one can learn the fundamentals of spirits production, taste seven selected spirits and be entertained by the funny stories from the history of Berlin’s oldest liquor brand and its admirers.
- Fork & Walk Tour where one can visit intriguing sights and hidden paths and discover some of the city’s tastiest and most interesting eateries in a small group of people. I had the chance to try amazing dim sum, Beijing duck and awesome desserts at Long March Canteen and visit the Farmers Market Berlin’s Markthalle Neun that hosts great street food every Thursday.

I stayed in the Swiss hotel chain Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts that has 83 hotels all over the world. Mövenpick Hotel Berlin, accented with the unique design elements of Berlin’s former Siemens building, is a 4-star superior hotel with 243 rooms and suites located near Potsdamer Platz in the city centre, just 25 minutes from Berlin Tegel Airport. The blend of past and modern influences in the historical buildings is truly appealing. The glass roofed restaurant and bar can boast of seasonal produce, in-house patisserie and Swiss specialties of course! I enjoyed having the typical Swiss breakfast (Swiss cheese, muesli) in Berlin. I stayed in the deluxe room, enjoyed the free-standing bathtub, free mini bar, a very comfortable bed, Mövenpick coffee and Swiss chocolate of course!
More over, Mövenpick organised the catering of the 150th anniversary gala of the Swiss Embassy in Berlin, which I had the honour to attend. Fun night, with great food, interesting people and a charming Swiss ambassador Christine Schraner Burgene.
