The Chedi hotel in Andermatt lives up to its 5-star rating upon first arrival: its impressive interior design merges Asian and Alpine style elements perfectly. Soft colors, dark wood, supple leather furniture and temple-like details create a serene atmosphere that sets the mood for one’s stay here.
The Chedi Andermatt has 123 rooms and suites, all of which are at least 52 square meters in size. The luxurious bathroom with its large tub, heated natural stone floor and rain shower was an absolute highlight for me. The spacious living area was equally sumptuous: the combination of mountain views, a fireplace, a great sound system and a very comfortable Hästens bed created a very cozy and yet chic chalet experience.
As if the lobby and suite weren’t splendid enough, I was amazed yet again by the size of the spa in the hotel. There I admired the snowy mountain peaks while swimming in both the indoor and outdoor heated pools (32 and 12 meters in length, respectively). Alongside the pool are fireplaces surrounded by plush daybeds. These poolside nooks offer a nice place to relax, read or dream while drinking warm herbal tea and enjoying tasty healthy snacks. I also spent time in the indoor swimming pool which offers different water temperatures varying from 42 to 18 degrees. This indoor pool area offers a different, more private spa experience.
The hotel also is home to The Restaurant, which was awarded 15 GaultMillau points and allows one to watch how dishes are freshly prepared. I enjoyed a tasty Asian dinner and was happy to discover something I had never seen before in other Swiss restaurants: a 5-meter glass cheese tower where everyone can select his/her preferred cheese during dinner or breakfast. Staying at the Chedi Andermatt is a true luxury; the spacious rooms, impeccable furniture style, ubiquitous calming fireplaces and numerous pools allow guests to fully relax and recharge.
