The magnificent Dolder Grand Hotel with its fantastic view over Zurich was the host location for the annual Pink Ribbon Schweiz Gala for the second time. Chef Ingo Kühn’s team pampered the guests with culinary delights and set the mood for an emotional evening with many stars. The 8-year-old Franca, who had won the Pink Ribbon talent competition in summer opened the music show and transported the guests into a fairytale dream world.
The line-up of Swiss stars was particularly large at this year’s benefit gala: Nubya, Eliane Müller, Caroline Chevin, Tiziana Guliono, Jesse Ritch and James Gruntz enthralled the audience with touching ballads, duets and world anthems such as “We are the World”, the enthusiasm for which was expressed with many standing ovations.
Presenter and Pink Ribbon Ambassador Sven Epiney charmingly guided the 200 guests through the evening. He was also convincing as auctioneer at the auction of ten extraordinary prizes. An exclusive weekend in Carlton Hotel in St. Moritz where the guests will drive with a brand new Aston Martin DBX, a specially made Zenith Defy watch Midnight “Pink Ribbon”, a pink sapphire with over 3 carats from Swiss high-end Jewellry brand Bucherer. Among other prizes were a round of golf with world star Ronan Keating in England in the exclusive golf club “The Grove” or a Matterhorn ascent with a mountain guide and a stay in the CERVO Mountain Resort. The process from the both silent and live auction brought in total 95 000 Swiss francs.
The entire proceeds of the Pink Ribbon Auction went to the “International Breast Cancer Study Group” and will be used for breast cancer studies for young patients. The diagnosis of breast cancer is particularly challenging for young women and there are only a few research projects worldwide that are designed for this target group. “Pink Ribbon Switzerland is a dream team and words cannot express how grateful we are for this support,” said study director Monica Ruggeri, visibly touched as she accepted the generous donation cheque.
The Dolder Grand and Sisley Paris were main partners of the Pink Ribbon Music Gala and the Hirslanden Clinic and the Breast Centre Zurich are the official professional partners of the event.
What few people know is that every year, 6,200 women in Switzerland are diagnosed with breast cancer and 1,400 die from it. Breast cancer is the most common cancer and the most common cause of cancer death among Swiss women. What few people know: Breast cancer also affects 40-50 men every year. Nicole Zindel with 2C Communication, the founder of Pink Ribbon Schweiz, has been committed to raising breast cancer awareness and education since 2007.
