The iconic Swiss hotel Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa is located in Interlaken, surrounded by Lake Thun and Lake Brienz as well as the famous peaks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The hotel has more than 200 rooms and suites, numerous conference rooms and splendid ballrooms, restaurants and the famous Spa Nescens.
The rooms face the mountains which makes time spent on the balcony with a hot cup of coffee even more enjoyable. The room I stayed in impressed me with its beautiful parquet flooring, spacious marble bathroom and a walk-in closet.
The modern interior and technology in the Victoria-Jungfrau are skillfully combined with the 150-year history and the soul that lives in the crystal chandeliers, paintings, murals and decor. During the Belle Époque era, royals, intellectuals, artists and authors from around the world flocked to this luxury hotel. Le Salon Rouge for instance used to be a place where women had their teatime. The fireplace and many interior details were preserved from the 19th century and can now be admired during the afternoon tea offer at the hotel every Saturday and Sunday, which includes a great tea selection, delicious sandwiches and pastries, piano tunes and lots of daylight.
One of the highlights of the hotel is surely the 5’500 square meter spa area. The large swimming pool reminds you of Roman culture and invites you for a swim surrounded by the beautiful architecture.
The nutritious and versatile breakfast is served in the beautiful restaurant La Terrasse that is inspired by the flora and furnishings of an orangerie in the south of France.
